Archbishop Dr. Timothy Nzyoki Ndambuki was born in Vyulya Location (Masii), Machakos District. He is son of the late Philip Ndambuki Mwailu and Beatrice Nzisa Ndambuki.
The Archbishop gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ as a teenager and was baptized in 1974. At the age of 14 years he started serving the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher. In 1979, he was elected a Church Elder and in 1986 he became a Lay leader. Between 1985 and 1988 he was the Youth Leader for Kangondi Sub-Pastorate and the Vice Youth leader of Mitaboni Pastorate.
FAMILY LIFE He got married in 1979 to the late Dorothy Mbula and later re-married Sister Mary M. Mbithi. They have four sons, three daughters and several grandchildren.
EDUCATION
Dr. Ndambuki did his Doctorate in Ministry at Carey Theological College in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
He did his Master of Arts (MA) in Leadership also Carey Theological College. His Bachelor of Divinity (BD) Degree was at St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya.
But before heeding the call to the Christian Ministry, Dr. Ndambuki was a professional teacher who rose from primary school teaching to secondary school teaching before resigning to enter into full time Christian ministry. He had studied teaching at Meru Teacher’s College.
PASTORAL WORK In 1993 he heeded the “call” for full time Ministry. During his studies at St. Paul’s Theological Seminary, he was attached to Nairobi Sub-Headquarters for his Pastoral Practical Experience. In 1996, after completing his studies, he was posted to Kaiani Sub-Pastorate where he was ordained and became the Pastor in-charge overseeing eight (8) churches. After that, he served as the Pastor in-charge of Kakuyuni Sub-Pastorate overseeing nine (9) churches before he got transferred to Nairobi Sub-Headquarters which covers the present day counties of Nairobi, some parts of Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru.
While serving in Nairobi Sub-Headquarters, he was also assigned to oversee the Cross-Cultural and Outreach /ministry of the Church. During that time he was instrumental in the tremendous Church growth in Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. He managed, together with Rev. Alden Crain, a Missionary from Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) to train over 100 Pastors including those in Divinity Schools in Cross-Cultural theology and experience. Often, the two (Timothy and Alden) travelled to bandit-prone areas of Uganda to give Spiritual guidance to the Kenyan Missionaries in that Country. The Fruit of their labor is present day ABC Church Moroto, among the Karamajong of Northern Uganda.
In October 2006, he was appointed the Deputy Bishop, a position he held until Bishop Ngala passed on and thereafter he was elected, consecrated and installed as the Bishop of Africa Brotherhood Church on the 15th April 2007.
Archbishop Ndambuki was the Chairman of the National Church Council of Kenya (NCCK) up to 2024 and the interim Chairman of the South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB). His ecumenical passion, leadership skills and love for the people are evident in the additional positions he holds as both the Chairman for both the Akamba Leadership Forum (Apex) and Ukambani Church Leaders Forum. His desire is to see a united, peaceful and prosperous region and the nation at large.
